Trump made more than $1bn in crypto in his first year back in office

US President Donald Trump made more than $1bn (£750m) last year from business dealings in cryptocurrency, according to his mandatory 2025 financial report.

In a 927-page disclosure, he reported that $635m in revenue from the Trump meme coin has fallen sharply since he launched it days before taking office.

He also reported more than $500m in income from World Liberty Financial, a cryptocurrency company founded by his sons and the children of his special envoy, Steve Witkoff.

He made millions more from real estate and Trump-themed properties. But the White House denied that he was profiting from the presidency.

The earnings from his latest financial disclosures far outstrip the previous one from 2024, when Trump disclosed more than $600m.

But the White House, which has repeatedly insisted that Trump has placed his business in a trust run by his sons, has also denied any conflict of interest.

The deputy press secretary of the White House, Anna Kelly, said that the president proudly made the US “the crypto capital of the world”.

“The President or his family have never participated – or will ever participate – in a conflict of interest,” he said in a statement.

He added: “All the actions of President Trump and his administration are done in the best interest of the American people – and any so-called ‘authors’ to push the other way is rehashing the same, tired, false narrative that Democrats and the legacy media have been pushing for a decade.”

The president himself also highlighted that he is not subject to conflict of interest laws.

Trump has once criticized cryptocurrency, famously calling Bitcoin a “scam” and a “disaster waiting to happen”.

But Tuesday’s disclosure shows that his crypto income far exceeds the income from his real estate business, which made him famous.

He earned about $77m from his Mar-a-Lago club and $122m from his golf club in Doral, Florida.

He also earned more than $30m each from golf clubs in Bedminster, New Jersey, and Jupiter, Florida, and Turnberry, Scotland.

Trump also earned millions from other businesses, according to financial disclosures.

This includes $4.7m in proceeds from Trump-branded watches, as well as Trump-branded Bibles, trainers, perfumes and guitars.

First Lady Melania Trump has recalculated her income from 2025 revealed. He made $10.7m from a “licensing deal” related to a documentary about him that was released last year.

Another $6m of revenue was accounted for from the sale of NFTs, which are digital images sold online.

The president counted millions of dollars, too, in settling various legal actions.

This included a $16m lawsuit against ABC, $16m from CBS Broadcasting and CBS Interactive, $24.5m for Meta, $22m for YouTube and $8m for X.

But the White House said most of that money went to Trump’s future presidential library or a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of parks in the Washington DC area.

According to a list of the world’s richest people compiled by Forbes magazine, Trump has an estimated net worth of $6bn – up from $2.3bn in 2024. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index puts the president’s net worth at $7.6bn.

After returning to the White House, Trump adopted a friendly approach to the crypto industry, as companies linked to his family issued digital tokens.

The head of Trump’s appointed financial regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission, is also seen as an ally of the crypto industry.

Since taking over in April 2025, Paul Atkins has moved the agency away from the strict, regulatory enforcement of his predecessor.

Last July, the president signed the GENIUS Act into law, to make “America the undisputed leader in digital assets”.

At more than 900 pages, Trump’s annual coverage exceeds that of his predecessors. For example, Joe Biden’s financial report for his last year in office was 11 pages long.
