After the US President Orders the British Prime Minister Out of Office, What’s Left of the Anglo-American Special Relationship?
Yves here. One wonders if Trump was responsible for Starmer’s exit, instead of arriving before the announcement to make it seem like he played an important role. Alexander Mercouris pointed to the past, particularly the Mandelson scandal, when he thought Starmer’s departure was imminent. But skepticism on that issue does not legitimize Helmer’s take on the deeply deteriorated state of US-British relations.

When President Donald Trump (top picture, 3rd on the left) announced the resignation of British Prime Minister Keir Starmer (on the right) to make sure that he will announce himself without delay, he threw a special relationship. He also declared that Britain’s foreign and domestic policy would be – already was – colonial.
In the history of the British Empire that has not happened for nearly two thousand years. Not since the Roman Emperor Claudius, accompanied by 40,000 troops, declared the island as a province of his empire in 43 AD, and the Emperor Hadrian followed in 122, ordered the construction of his defensive wall in the north of the Pictish. Today, Trump has gone further north than the Romans; he bought off the rebellious Picts; and built a golf course 230 miles north of Hadrian’s Wall.
“The special relationship is working now,” Starmer said in March. “We’re working together in the region, the US and the British working together to protect both the US and Britain on a joint basis, where we’re jointly available and sharing intelligence 24/7 on a regular basis.” /
Trump first said otherwise when he issued Starmer his first marching order to the Indian Ocean island of Diego Garcia in February.
“Our relationship with the United Kingdom is strong and strong,” Trump said on Twitter, “and has been for many years, but Prime Minister Starmer is losing control of this important island with the claims of entities that have never been known before. In our opinion, they are inherently false. If Iran decides not to make the Agreement, it may be necessary for the United States to use Diegotable Garcia, and the Airfield that may be in Diegotable Garcia, and the Airfield A dangerous regime – A possible attack on the United Kingdom, and other friendly countries Starmer should not lose control, for any reason, of Diego Garcia, by entering into a tenuous, at best, 100 Year Lease should not be removed from the UK and, if allowed, will be a big problem, but we will be able to fight the UK strong in the face of Wokeism, and other problems put before them DO NOT GIVE DIEGO GARCIA!
A month later, in response to Starmer’s promise of a special relationship, Trump said: “The United Kingdom, our Greatest Ally, perhaps the Greatest of all, is finally considering sending two aircraft carriers to the Middle East. That’s right, Prime Minister Starmer, we don’t need any more – But we will remember.
In April, Trump told Starmer that he should not have sent Peter Mandelson to Washington as the UK ambassador. He ‘used poor judgement’ in choosing his Ambassador to Washington. I agree, he really made a bad choice.
Then, on the advice of banker and campaign financier Warren Stephens, the President’s ambassador to London, Trump decided the time to get Starmer was over. He told him to walk on a plank. “Keir Starmer will resign as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He failed miserably on the two most important subjects- IMMIGRATION AND ENERGY (OPEN NORTH SEA OIL!). I wish him the best!”
Starmer’s replacement is now a bidding war for all the upstarts in British politics to win Trump’s favor to take over at the next election; that must be held within three years, by August 2029.
In the polls of British voters for their party and the popularity of the prime minister, this makes Trump more popular than Starmer of the Labor Party and Nigel Farage of the Reform Party. In fact, with 64 percent of the points Trump is less popular than Starmer and Farage. He is still ahead, roughly speaking, of former Labor Party leader Jeremy Corbyn; he follows Kemi Badenoch, leader of the Conservative Party.
By this measure, King Charles III is the prime minister of this colony. He has an overall likability rating of 26%. “The King and Queen have found me to do something that no one else has been able to do, without even asking,” Trump supported the king on April 30. “In honor of the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, who have just left the White House, immediately returned to their wonderful country, I will be removing Taxes and Restrictions on Whiskey combined with the Commonwealth’s ability of Scottish Whiskey and Scottish Whiskey. Two of the most important industries in Scotland and in Kentucky People have long wanted to do this, because there was a great deal of Inter-Country trade, especially in connection with the Wood Bars used.
The wooden barrels of 2026 are sending the same message to America that the missionaries had in 1773.
Close behind Charles III, Starmer’s likely successor, Andrew Burnham, former mayor of Birmingham, starts at 4%. That is so low, the voters of the empire in the White House and the CIA calculate, that Burnham will have to follow the line of Trump in increasing the defense money of Britain in the purchase of US weapons; by joining the eternal war with Iran; and defending the US-Israeli genocide and Gaza redevelopment plan.
