Bose Lifestyle Collection: New speaker, sound bar, and subwoofer

On May 5, Bose announced a new Lifestyle Collection, featuring the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker ($299), the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar ($1,099), and the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer ($899). The line is designed to work together or separately to deliver unique sound throughout the home. All three products are packed with Bose’s proprietary technology to deliver high-quality sound in a variety of environments.

I was invited to see the Lifestyle Collection before its release, and I was very impressed with what I heard and saw. Music on the Lifestyle Ultra Speaker sounded booming and full without muddy vocals, and clipping A mound literally shook the floor with audio playback from the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar. The sound bar, speaker, and subwoofer, when paired, create room-filling sound sure to impress anyone who takes their Letterboxd account seriously. And on top of that, the Lifestyle Collection looks sleek and doesn’t advertise a “tech product.”

Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker

The Lifestyle Ultra speaker is compact while still packing great sound. It features three drivers – two forward-facing and one firing – allowing the sound to truly fill the space, so you get powerful, clear sound no matter where you are in the room. It also features CleanBass technology, supported by the proprietary QuietPort acoustic opening, which delivers bass that doesn’t sound echoey or windy.

Two Lifestyle Ultra speakers can be paired for a stereo surround sound setup. And you can play music on multiple Lifestyle speakers as you know your preferred playlist — no need to connect via Bluetooth. The Lifestyle Ultra speaker is compatible with Google Cast, Apple AirPlay, and Spotify Connect, and can be integrated with other compatible smart speakers on your network. Additionally, it has a 3.5mm aux port, which is great for connecting a turntable. It’s also the first to market a speaker outside of Amazon devices to offer full Alexa+ capabilities.

Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar

This marks the first major soundbar redesign from Bose in over a decade. The Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar features a new acoustic design with six full-range drivers (four forward-facing and two upward-firing), a mid-range tweeter, and two Bose proprietary PhaseGuide drivers. It can play Dolby Atmos content and has SpeechClarity technology that ensures dialogue is clear at any volume, with three adjustable dialogue levels. CustomTune uses your phone’s microphone to analyze the acoustics of your room to improve the sound output performance. Like the speaker, the sound bar includes CleanBass technology.

When we demoed the Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, the Bose rep turned the SpeechClarity setting on and off, and I was instantly sold. Sometimes I struggle to hear dialogue, but I hate using subtitles, and this technology feels like it was made specifically for me. It pushed the dialogue of a noisy scene without distorting any background noise.

The Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar also looks incredibly stylish and sports a tactile dial that allows users to control volume levels without picking up their TV remote or phone.

When paired with the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Speaker and the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Soundbar, the Bose Lifestyle Ultra Subwoofer pushes the set into full home theater mode by producing deep, controlled bass and reproducing very low frequencies for clear overall sound. It also features CleanBass technology, for cinematic bass without distortion.
