Drama has been stirring up drama online since the taxi went down in December. A24’s dark comedy about a marriage gone wrong stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson and promises an unexpected twist. If you’ve managed to stay away from the spoilers this far, this isn’t your “cold feet” romance game. It’s dark and heavy.

Directed by Kristoffer Borgli, Drama it makes you wonder if you really know the person you are going to marry. It’s done incredibly well in theaters, surpassing Zendaya’s 2024 Challenges. Drama follows Boston couple Emma (Zendaya) and Charlie (Pattinson) as they prepare for their wedding. At a food and wine tasting event, along with their best friends Rachel (Alana Haim) and Mike (Mamoudou Athie), they play a game where each person confesses to the worst thing they’ve ever done. Although everything was sweet at first, the play takes a dark turn when Emma admits her truth. His confession throws his entire marriage and relationship into question.

Is it Drama is it worth watching?

A24 of Drama attracted moviegoers worldwide, surpassing $100 million. It is only the studio’s fifth film to reach the century mark in more than a dozen years. So far, it’s received 77 percent critical and 78 percent audience ratings on Rotten Tomatoes, which means people aren’t just showing the movie — they’re actually enjoying it.

That being said, Drama it focuses on some difficult themes and uncomfortable feelings, so it is not for everyone. Whether it’s worth the watch is debatable, as always, but one should check the trigger warnings before entering.

A24 recently renewed its output deal with Warner Bros. Discovery, which means new A24 releases will air exclusively on HBO Max before anywhere else.
