King Charles III will visit the US in late April, attend a dinner at the White House, Trump said

London – The British King Charles III will visit the US in late April, Buckingham Palace and President Trump announced on Tuesday, confirming the trip that officials he told CBS News earlier this month what to expect in the coming weeks. Sources told CBS News that King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands will visit Washington again, staying at the White House, in June.
Charles’ visit will “celebrate the historic connection and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, which marks 250 years of “American independence,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Tuesday. The president said the visit will take place from April 27-30.
“Melania and I are pleased to announce that their royals, the king and queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a historic visit from April 27-30, which will include a grand dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th,” Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This important event will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th anniversary of our great country.”
Charles will address the Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, April 28, congressional leaders announced Wednesday.
This speech celebrates 250 years of American independence and the enduring special relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom.
It will be Charles’ first visit to the US as monarch, although he visited the US 19 times before his coronation, when he was Prince of Wales. His mother, the late Queen Elizabeth II, visited the US four times, in 1957, 1976, 1991 and 2007, Buckingham Palace said.
Mr. Trump made a state visit in the UK in September, I attended a state dinner hosted by Charles and Queen Camilla at Windsor Castle, which was also attended by Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales.

The king’s visit to Washington will come at a tense time in US-UK relations. Mr. Trump has been highly critical of Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s reluctance to join a joint US-Israel war against Iran, despite the UK allowing the US to use its bases for “defensive” operations.
It comes amid a controversy sparked by contact with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. King Charles stripped his younger brother, the former Prince Andrew, of his royal titles. Andrew was arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office after the Epstein files were revealed.
Peter Mandelsonthe former UK ambassador to Washington, was also arrested last month on suspicion of misconduct in public office in connection with her relationship with Epstein.
After his visit to the US, Charles will continue to visit Bermuda.
